Summer Math & Reading 2020
"Knowledge is Power."
Sir Francis Bacon This summer, we ask all students to help prevent the summer slide by reading and practicing their math skills. While these assignments are recommended and not required, we ask all families to encourage participation in our summer activities. Research tells us that students who begin school after a summer of reading and math review, begin the year stronger and make immediate gains. After a trimester of distance learning, being fresh in August will be even more important. There are many great books to choose from and many creative ways to hone math skills.
For parents with younger children, reading aloud lays the foundation for future skills. Some of these benefits include learning vocabulary and enjoying fluent, expressive reading. For children who are readers, like every skill, practice reaps benefits. Please check out the suggested activities from your new teachers and have fun with these enrichment opportunities. There is even a fun list of summer activities for all ages. Have a wonderful summer with your families, and remember that, “Knowledge is Power.” |
