Campus Ministry

As a Jesuit Catholic school, the charism of St. Ignatius of Loyola (founder of the Jesuits), is at the core of all we do. By practicing key concepts of Ignatian spirituality such as finding God in all things, doing the Magis (the more for Christ and others), AMDG (for the greater glory of God) and Cura Personalis (care of the person), our students experience ways to help them in their educational and faith journey as they become Kids for Others.

Prayer and Sacraments

Students have various opportunities to deepen their faith through participation in prayer and the sacraments. Each school day begins with our community gathering for Pledge & Prayer. Students attend weekly Mass as well as Catholic prayer traditions throughout the year such as the Rosary, Stations of the Cross, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The sacrament of Reconciliation is offered in Advent and Lent. Students in 2nd and 3rd Grade prepare for and receive the sacraments of Reconciliation (2nd) and Confirmation and First Eucharist (3rd).

Retreats

In the Jesuit tradition, we offer retreat opportunities for students and parents to deepen their relationship with God and others and to enrich their educational and spiritual development. New families are welcomed with a retreat to introduce them to the mission and philosophy of St. Francis Xavier, Jesuit heritage and Ignatian spirituality to better understand how they affect the education and culture at our school. Students and parents from all faith traditions participate in the retreats.

Service

In forming Kids for Others, our students are taught the importance of serving others in age appropriate ways from Preschool through 8th Grade. In the Ignatian tradition, students in all grades are taught to live out the prayer of generosity by freely performing service to others out of a place of gratitude without seeking reward or recognition. Students participate in service in a variety of ways: from classroom service learning units, Lenten almsgiving, food drives, Christmas giving and drives for needs of the community.
